Dollar hits 106 US cents on RBA decision

THE Australian dollar hit 106 US cents after the central bank decided to leave the cash rate unchanged at 3.5 per cent.

THE Australian dollar hit 106 US cents after the central bank decided to leave the cash rate unchanged at 3.5 per cent.

The Australian dollar was trading at 105.86 US cents at 14.29pm AEST, just before the decision was announced, and rose to 106.01 US cents at 14.36pm AEST.

It remained at that level only briefly before dropping back to 105.87 US cents at 2.40pm AEST.

The currency finished yesterday's local session at 105.60 US cents.
