RUSSIA’S antitrust authority has found Google guilty of unfairly keeping rival services off mobile devices in a probe demanded by local search engine Yandex.

HERE are seven things making news in business and finance around the world today.

1. SYDNEY — The Australian dollar is higher, extending the gains made following the release of strong Chinese retail spending data over the weekend.

At 0630 AEST on Tuesday, the local unit was trading at 71.38 US cents, up from 70.90 cents on Monday.

2. SYDNEY — The Australian share market looks set to open lower after US and European bourses fell with investors cautious ahead of the Federal Reserve’s policy meeting this week.

At 0645 AEST on Tuesday, the September share price index futures contract was down 15 points at 5,076.

3. PARIS — The OPEC oil cartel have trimmed its forecast for global oil demand next year as emerging markets, which have been the motor of world growth in recent years, splutter.

4. MOBILE, Alabama — European jet maker Airbus has inaugurated its first US plant in a move to wrest away a chunk of Boeing’s domination of the domestic aircraft market including lucrative Pentagon contracts.

5. MOSCOW — Russia’s antitrust authority has found US internet giant Google guilty of unfairly keeping rival services off mobile devices in a probe demanded by local search engine provider Yandex.

6. NEW YORK — Depomed Inc has rejected Horizon Pharma PLC’s sweetened $US2.4 billion ($A3.36 billion) hostile takeover offer, saying it still undervalues the company, and recommended that its shareholders reject the bid.

7. HELSINKI — Finnish telecom group Nokia says it’s received all US regulatory approvals needed for its proposed acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent, taking a step closer towards creating the world’s biggest supplier of mobile phone network equipment.
