Twitter users express their verdict on Federal Budget 2014

AUSTRALIA has reacted to Joe Hockey’s first Budget with a series of poorly Photoshopped images and some fun, pithy tweets.

IF SOCIAL media is any indication, then Budget 2014 was the Abbott Government’s ‘Pants on Fire’ budget.

Twitter users expressed their opinion on the Budget in succinct fashion, delivering their verdict using just three words.

The hashtag #threewordbudget was trending on Twitter following Treasurer Joe Hockey’s Budget speech, during which he unveiled plans for a $7 GP fee, future fuel levy increases, a deficit levy and many other tough measures.

Not surprisingly, much of the Twitter reaction was negative but there were a few Twitter users who at least tried to see the funny side of things.

Ranging from memes to tweets about general unfairness, here is just a sample of the best reaction the internet has to offer.

BUDGET: What it means for you

And, of course, Twitter has delivered a raft of clever memes and Photoshopped images.

Others were more lighthearted about it all and some took a scarier view.

Even we had a bit of a go.

And some people tried to deliver a different alternative.

Others had only this to say, or had similar reactions to this.

But really, many people were a little horrified and couldn’t hide it

Some social media users even blamed voters for what they saw as a harsh and mean budget.

Who wants to be a millionaire? Joe Hockey in the hot seat.
