Treasurer Jim Chalmers has unveiled a big-spending budget offering cost-of-living relief and tax cuts for millions of Australians.
Handing down his second back-to-back surplus, Dr Chalmers described it as “budget for the here and now and a budget for decades to come”.
“It’s a responsible budget that helps people under pressure today and invests in the promise and potential of the more prosperous future that we can make together,” he told parliament.
