US expects robust talks with China

ROBUST talks are expected between China president Xi Jinping and US president Barack Obama on trade, cyber theft, global warming and global health.

WHITE House officials will seek to demonstrate during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit that cracking down on theft of commercial secrets and promoting fair trade is in China's best interest in helping to sustain and grow the world's second-largest economy.

WHITE House officials previewing Xi's visit on Thursday and Friday (US time) say that engagement with China is critical in helping the two countries resolve their differences. The officials say they expect robust discussions on cyber, trade and human rights, and they will also look for more ways to improve co-operation to stem global warming and improve global health. The two countries worked together to tackle the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.
