Personal security
Lawrence Ellison, CEO of computer technology company Oracle Corporation, had to install a hi-tech security system in his home "because of Mr. Ellison's importance to Oracle".
Mr Ellison footed the bill for the installation and system upkeep, but the company pays for the security guards which cost $US1.53 million in 2012.
Private jets
David Zaslav, CEO of media company Discovery Communications, has been well compensated since moving from NBC Universal in 2007. He received more than $US42 million in 2010, more than $US52 million in 2011 and nearly $US50 million in 2012.
In 2012 he received more than $US400,000 in extras (mostly related to travel) on top of his $US3 million salary and $US41 million in stock and option awards.
He received $US164,000 in benefits relating to personal use of a company aircraft.
Luxury villas
Stephen Wynn, CEO of casino operator Wynn Resorts, earns a base salary of $US4 million and an extra $US13.7 million in bonuses and other compensation. This include the lease of a company-owned villa in Las Vegas valued at $US451,574 for 2012.
Legal fees
Glenn Murphy, CEO of clothing company Gap Inc., earned $US24.6 million in 2012. His remuneration was largely based on company performance. The retailer company agreed to increase his stock-based performance compensation, but it also reimbursed him $US65,000 for legal fees he incurred while negotiating his higher compensation.
