Zoe Perry was surprised to find a very unwelcome guest had followed her family home in their shopping bags. It seems a hairy arachnid snuck its way into a Woolworth’s Italian Style Salad Mix.

Perry posted a video of the critter on Facebook, where it has been viewed more than two million times in the first seven hours. Her post has also attracted over 48,000 comments so far.

In her post, Perry even went onto speculate whether the spiders are what’s really “behind the salmonella callbacks”.

A Woolworths social media representative responded to Perry’s post on Facebook with: “We’re very concerned about this Zoe, and take incidents like this very seriously.”

Earlier today, it was revealed some lines of Coles’ and Woolworths’ pre-packaged lettuce and spinach mixes have been linked to a spate of salmonella poisoning cases. So far the number of cases stand at 28 adults but authorities fear the number will rise.

A recall has been issued by both supermarket chains.
