A popular alcohol-free beverage company has entered voluntary administration despite reassurances that it is undergoing a “simple restructuring”.

The Non Alcoholic Drinks Co Pty Ltd, known as Sans Drinks, had administrators appointed on July 17, a report from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) reveals.

Despite the Sans Drinks shop in Brookvale NSW closing, the company’s founder, Irene Falcone, told 7 News the business was “trading as normal”.

“Foot traffic just isn’t there to sustain bricks and mortar (stores) in this economic climate,” she said.

According to Ms Falcone, the restructure will see Sans Drinks instead move exclusively into online trading, planning to offer customers a “more refined” range of drinking options than what is currently available at common stores and grocers.

However ASIC records show Insolvency firm Jirsch Sutherland has been appointed as administrator for Sans Drinks.

Jirscg Sutherland partner Andrew Spring told Nine Newspapers the business was still open, with administrators still working through the business’ issues.

“It’s still early days in the investigation and the Jirsch Sutherland team is undertaking a review to understand the business, do a financial assessment, and work closely with the director to find a solution,” Mr Spring said.

“Jirsch Sutherland continues to trade the business and the website is still operating and available.”

Ms Falcone founded the nation’s “first physical non-alcoholic bottle shop and online superstore” in 2020, selling alcohol-free beers, wines and spirits in Sydney’s Warringah Mall.

On the company’s website Ms Falcone said she started the company after becoming “frustrated with the low quality, sugar loaded non-alcoholic alternatives that were available in supermarkets and bottle shops”.

The entrepreneur also founded natural beauty products company Nourished Life in 2012 which she later sold in 2017.

The first creditors meeting for Sans Drinks will be held on July 27.
