Giant spider with a sac full of eggs found in Woolies gingerbread house

A Sydney mum has spoken about a terrifying find in her Woolworths gingerbread house when she went to have an evening snack.

A Sydney mum said she’s been “in hysterics all day” following the reaction to her terrifying find in a Woolworths gingerbread house.

Katie Gompertz tried to sneak in an evening snack with her cup of tea on Monday night without her children noticing when she found a giant spider stuck inside the box.

“As I looked at it I saw a giant leg hanging down from the roof of the packaging,” she told NCA NewsWire.

Oh dear.

“When I looked close I saw it was a giant huntsman complete with a white sac of eggs.

“I have no idea how it got in there, the gingerbread is shrink wrapped.”

Ms Gompertz’s find has attracted attention since she shared the terrifying story on Facebook.

The spider has made itself at home and was ready lay hundreds babies.

Good call not opening this treat.

In response to her post, a member of Woolworths’ media team promised to replace the gingerbread treat.

But Ms Gompertz said she was too scared to travel with it in her car.

“Oh no Katie,” the supermarket giant replied.

“This critter just wanted a home but this is definitely not the right one for her.

“We apologise for the scary surprise. After all, it’s Christmas, not Halloween.”

Ms Gompertz said she appreciated the offer from Woolworths but she was too scared to go near the “critter”.

“It’s currently on my back deck and Woolies have offered to come and replace it,” she said. “They said they’ll take the original one back with the special ingredient but I’m not sure they realise how big it is.”
