Failure to launch? Amazon Australia a no-show as clock ticks past 3pm
AS THE clock ticked past 2pm without the much-hyped launch of Amazon Australia, shoppers took to Twitter to vent their frustration.
AUSSIE shoppers keen to snap up a bargain have been left frustrated as the rumoured time of Amazon Australia’s soft launch came and went without the site updating.
A soft launch of the Australian version of Amazon Marketplace was expected to kick off at 2pm today, but as the deadline passed, many Amazon enthusiasts were left scratching their heads after the website remained unchanged.
A leaked email to sellers advised them to have their wares ready by “2pm AEST Thursday” — which equated to 3pm for most of Australia thanks to daylight savings time.
While it was expected that the local version of Amazon Marketplace would be open to only a select few customers today, more and more Australians have turned to Twitter to vent.

While most people have been unable to shop from the site yet, some enthusiasts have shared items that are currently listed, including glitter phone cases, inflatable outdoor pools, quilt sets, toys and baby clothes.
Amazon has remained notoriously tight-lipped over almost every detail of its launch Down Under, refusing to confirm launch dates, goods for sale or other in-demand details.
