Coles shopper finds ridiculous special offer
IF YOU thought the 1 cent discount from Woolies was bad, its rival Coles has managed something even sillier.
COLES has one-upped Woolworths again.
Last week, shoppers were left scratching their heads at a rather un-special ‘Cheap Cheap Special’ on offer at Woolworths’ store in Dural in Sydney’s north west.
The 1 cent discount on the ‘Little Live Pets Butterfly House’, which brought the price of the children’s toy from $20 to a much more reasonable $19.99, was lampooned after being posted on social media.
But it seems Coles isn’t immune to labelling mishaps either — and if you thought a 1 cent discount was bad, what about a no-cent discount?
A shopper at Coles in Woden, ACT, snapped a picture of Coles Create & Bake Polka Dot Patty Pans, ‘reduced to clear’ from $3.20 to ... $3.20.
The shopper said it was just one example of several in the bake section.
Unfortunately the Coles website only lists the original price, so make your way to the store if you want to get in on this action:
A Coles spokesman said in a statement: “It looks like the ticket was printed in error — we’ll check with our merchandise team and get it sorted out.”
UPDATE
The plot thickens.
