A WILD brawl erupted at a Melbourne electronics shop as up to five young men rushed a security guard who had grabbed a mate suspected of shoplifting.
The security guard suffered minor injuries in the melee at JB Hi-Fi in Chadstone about 5.30pm on Sunday.
The man was punched, kicked and spat on by the group, police say.
CCTV footage first aired on Channel 9 News shows up to five young men pouncing on the guard as he tried to restrain a man leaving the shop.
The security guard and the alleged shoplifter crashed into display computers and shelving as they wrestled before other members of the group intervened.
The guard fell to the floor as he grappled with the man.
Two of the men punched a second staff member who came to the guard’s aid, shoving him violently into a wall.
Another member of the group, clutching an opened bottle of bourbon, kicked the guard while he was on the floor.
The men shoved other staff members and shouted abuse before fleeing.
