Bunnings to reopen Sydney stores, except for those in hotspot LGAs

Bunnings stores will reopen across Greater Sydney from Monday, but its doors will remain closed to the general public in council areas of concern.

Bunnings will reopen dozens stores across Sydney on Monday.

But stores located in 12 local government areas of concern will remain closed to the general public and only accessible to tradies and for click and collect or drive and collect.

The hardware giant made the announcement on Thursday and said 24 of its stores would reopen to retail customers, allowing them to walk inside again.

“We continue to encourage customers in Greater Sydney to use our contactless drive and collect service and delivery options for non-urgent items,” Bunnings said in a statement.

Bunnings stores closed its doors across the city last month when tighter restrictions were enforced in the retail sector.

Normal trading hours will apply.

“The acceleration of the vaccine rollout and the increase in opportunities for our team to get vaccinated has given us the confidence to re-open our stores in Greater Sydney,” Bunnings managing director Mike Schneider said.

Sydney’s 12 areas of concern include Bayside, Blacktown, Burwood, Canterbury-Bankstown, Campbelltown, Cumberland, Fairfield, Georges River, Liverpool, Parramatta, Strathfield, and some suburbs of Penrith.

NSW recorded 1288 new cases on Thursday and seven deaths.

The stores reopening from Monday include:

• Rose Bay

• Rouse Hill

• Thornleigh

• Warringah Mall
