Amazon Prime Day date revealed: Sale starts October 13
With tens of thousands of deals across big brands, bargain hunters have been hanging out for this annual two-day online sales event.
It’s the huge annual online sales event that bargain hunters have been waiting for and after a long delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Amazon Prime Day is finally happening.
The shopping event, normally held in July, is now due to take place on October 13-14.
The online retailer is expected to announce big savings on tens of thousands of products for Amazon Prime members during the two-day sale, which is known for its discounts and deals.

It’s the event’s third year in Australia.
“Last year, Prime Day was our biggest day in history,” Amazon Australia country manager Matt Furlong told news.com.au.
“We’re excited to offer Australian Prime members the chance to access fantastic savings across tens of thousands of products from international and Aussie brands across all categories for Prime Day this year,” he said.
Deals will launch across all categories including Amazon devices, consumer electronics, pantry food and drink, toys and fashion and beauty, with savings expected from leading brands including Bosch and Adidas.
There will also be everyday household items on sale including Huggies and Zenify pet products.
After the shopping event was postponed from its original July date due to coronavirus, customers were left in the dark over when it would take place.
“We had to reschedule it from earlier this year, but October is a great time of year to kick off holiday shopping,” Mr Furlong said.
BIG DEALS
Last year, fashion brands like Calvin Klein and Lorna Jane were marked down by up to 50 per cent, while Bose and Sennheiser headphones and Le Creuset and DeLonghi kitchen products were marked down by 25 per cent.
Some Amazon Prime deals have started already, with members getting discounts on Amazon services and products including Amazon Music and three-month free trials on Audible audiobooks and Kindle e-readers and ebooks.
There are more than 150 million paid Amazon Prime members around the world, with the service giving members access to free two-day domestic delivery and free standard international delivery on eligible orders.
Shoppers who aren’t Prime members can sign up for a free 30-day trial access to Prime Day with membership after that costing $6.99 a month or $59 a year.
SHOP LOCAL
This year, Amazon Prime Day will also support small businesses around the country with its Shop Local store.
Mr Furlong said Amazon Australia is putting small Australian businesses front and centre through the Shop Local store in the lead up Prime Day and beyond.
“We’re focused on serving customers and supporting small businesses despite these challenging times,” Mr Furlong said. “We’re putting these small and medium business front and centre as part of Prime Day this year, helping them capture the market.”
Perth-based mums Danni Crews and Alisa Latto co-founded 123 Nourish Me, which makes health and wellbeing products for children, are among the small business owners who will partner with Amazon this year.
Mr Crews said it allowed the business to grow, while giving them the time to focus on new innovations, staff and their community.
“We’ve been really impressed with the results so far. It’s safe to say we’re pleased with how quickly our sales have ramped up,” she said.
Sofi Spritz, a drinks maker from regional NSW, will also be selling products online in this year’s Prime Day
Founder of SOFI Spritz Tom Maclean said that 2020 has been a difficult year and kicking off the partnership with Amazon Australia has allowed the company to reach new customers alongside existing ones.
“With Prime Day just around the corner and Amazon Australia’s focus this year on supporting small Aussie businesses through the Shop Local store, we’re really excited to see the results we can achieve,” Mr Maclean said.
