Amazon Australia, eBay Plus Month: Inside month-long sale events

Last time eBay offered this hot product at such a low price they sold out in just 36 seconds – and a similar rush is expected this time around.

Savvy shoppers will have the chance to snap up Apple AirPods for just $99 on Monday as the first ever eBay Plus Month kicks off.

The month-long sale will begin at 10am on June 1, and will include exclusive deals with up to 80 per cent off, 20 per cent off millions of other items and free express delivery on millions of eBay Plus items, available exclusively to eBay Plus members.

The sale has evolved from the previous Plus Weekend, and will showcase a new deal every day throughout June.

Items have been selected using eBay data which has shown what Aussies have been searching for and buying during isolation.

They include Apple AirPods – both 2nd Generation and Pro – a Nintendo Switch Neon and an Air Fryer following purchase spikes in headphones, gaming consoles and kitchen appliances.

There will also be “spend and save” offers on all eBay Plus items, with shoppers who spend $100 saving $10, $500 saving $50 and $2000 saving $200 from June 1 to 14.

There will also be 20 per cent off select eBay Plus items from June 15 to 30.

eBay last offered $99 Apple AirPods during its Black Friday sale in November, with the products selling out in seconds.

“We know the last couple of months have been tough on Aussies financially with an estimated 46 per cent of household incomes affected,” eBay Australia’s Sophie Onikul said.

“People are shopping differently right now, prioritising purchases of the things they really need from tech to everyday essentials.

“We’ve also seen less time spent browsing the site with shoppers more decisive and planned in their purchases.

“We’ve also seen a conscious effort from eBay shoppers to support homegrown businesses during this time.”

eBay will also roll out free express delivery on millions of eBay Plus items for eBay Plus members in metro areas.

“Our aim is to get items into buyers’ hands as quickly as possible so they can enjoy them. “Recent research shows reliable delivery is more important than ever right now with it second only to free delivery,” Ms Onikul said.

The shopping membership unlocks delivery benefits and savings. For $49 for 12 months, eBay Plus members get free express delivery, free returns and access to exclusive deals.

Plus members who shop Coles on eBay get 5 per cent off and free delivery on orders over $49.

Meanwhile, Amazon Australia is also holding a month-long sale of its own, with the Amazon Australia Mid-Year Sale now live and running until 11.59pm on Tuesday, June 30.

There will be tens of thousands of products at discounted prices across electronics, video games, kitchen appliances, clothing, pantry essentials and more.

Brands will include Bonds, Bosch, Bose, Huggies, Le Creuset, Nintendo, Nutribullet, PlayStation, Samsung and Xbox.

Amazon Prime members will receive free delivery on Prime eligible items, have access to some exclusive deals such as spend $50, save 20 per cent on select grocery essentials, and can access select deals 30 minutes ahead of time.

Matt Furlong, Country Manager of Amazon Australia, said it was perfect timing as Aussies were “looking for deals” at the moment.
