Red Bull Can You Make It? challenges launch in Australia

FORGET about bitcoin, the new currency will be Red Bull. The brand has set the challenge to replace money with its energy drink.

MONEY makes the world go around right? Not always. Red Bull is going to test whether you can replace good old cash with cans of the energy drink.

The company is launching its Can You Make It? challenge in Australia tomorrow. Twenty teams of three university students will set off from all over the country for a five-day trek where they are not allowed to use any money — cash or card.

To secure food, accommodation or transport, the youngsters will only have cans of Red Bull (and hopefully a lot of charisma) to barter for the necessities. We can’t wait to see if a train guard in a bad mood can be paid off for fare evasion with a sixpack of Red Bull. Hmmm.

There are 15 checkpoints across the country the teams will need to reach while the final destination will be in Cairns. The team that travels the furthest distance, reaches the most checkpoints, uses the most transportation methods (horse buggy anyone?) and garners the most support on social media will take out the grand prize.

Heaps of Red Bull cans.

No, we jest. The winners will claim an all-expenses Contiki tour of southeast Asia and a Sony camera.

The Can You Make It? challenge has previously been run in Europe.
