THEY walk in wearing a hoodie, flash a P-plate driver’s licence to get in the casino door and win $3 million.
This is the new era of high-roller gamblers — young men, some just turned 18, who hang out with their buddies during the day and spend their nights betting on high stakes baccarat in the private gaming room at The Star in Sydney.
Casino sources say the rise in young male card players has erupted in betting in Sydney in the past six months and it’s in the ultra-exclusive betting floor, the Sovereign Room, where they rule, The Daily Telegraph reports.
To gain an invitation to the private and luxurious venue, these young punters are spending up to 40 hours a week betting and spending five-figures daily.
“You look at these young guys and you can see they have just walked out of the skate park and then they sit down and pull $3 million off a table,” says one Sovereign Room source, who asks not to be named.
