EMBATTLED law firm Slater and Gordon is now facing a class action launched by rival lawyers Maurice Blackburn.

The firm will call for aggrieved Slater and Gordon shareholders to sign up for the class action this morning after its share price crashed nearly 90 per cent since April.

“The decision has been made after long and serious consideration of the series of events that have plagued SGH this year,” Maurice Blackburn said in a statement.

Maurice Blackburn expressed “significant concerns” about the “timing and accuracy” of information Slater and Gordon had released to the market this year.

Changes to laws affecting personal injury cases in the United Kingdom were a major blow to Slater and Gordon’s financial position.

Maurice Blackburn said its class action was open to people who purchased shares between April 1 and December 16 this year.

Maurice Blackburn will hold a press conference at 11am.
