Builder of marble staircase in Salim Mehajer’s mansion sues deputy mayor for payment

CONTROVERSIAL deputy mayor is being sued by a marble importer in latest drama involving a spiral staircase inside his mansion.

CONTROVERSIAL Auburn Deputy Mayor Salim Mehajer is being sued by a marble importer for unpaid work on a spiral staircase at his Lidcombe mansion which has featured in a rap music clip and a glossy magazine.

Yashar Shokrgozar of Marmonyx Stone is suing Mehajer for unpaid work for the Persian onyx marble used on the glamour-type staircase which featured in the video clip of US rap star Bow Wow and in a photo spread for New Idea.

Mehajer did not appear at Newtown Local Court this morning and was instead represented by his lawyer in the closed court mediation.

After a 30 minute discussion the two-parties left the court without reaching an agreement.

Outside of court Mr Shokrgozar would not disclose how much he claimed Mehajer owned him saying they had agreed to keep it confidential.

“We did a beautiful job for him. Immaculate,” he said.

“I have seen it (in the video clip) and I am absolutely proud of it.”

Mr Shokrgozar said the month-long job to lay the marble was completed nine months ago.

Mehajer’s white Ferrari also featured prominently in the video clip and was driven by Bow Wow around the Opera House.

Bow Wow said it was after Mehajer had agreed for his luxury car to be used in the video clip that he invited the rap star to film at his Lidcombe mansion.

This month, New Idea featured the staircase in a photo shoot of Mehajer and his wife Aysha inside their lavish multi-million dollar home.

The civil suit is the latest in a number of court cases involving Mehajer.

The 29-year-old is facing charges of stalking and intimidating the father of Lindt Café siege survivor Joel Herat, after he allegedly threatened to kidnap the personal trainer’s children after he was asked not to drop weights on the floor at Anytime Fitness Burwood last month.

At the weekend, Mehajer was charged by police with allegedly driving an unregistered white Ferrari without a licence in Punchbowl twice in one night.

Mehajer has previously said he is contesting the stalking and intimidation charges as well as the driving offences.

Meanwhile in Sydney District Court a mother and daughter is suing Mehajer for injuries sustained three years ago when they were hit by a black Ferrari being driven by the property developer which careened onto a footpath at Lidcombe.

Mehajer gained nationwide attention for his outrageous wedding in August which featured four helicopters and a fleet of luxury cars and led to their street being shutdown outraging neighbours.
