Australia Post flooded with complaint as lazy postmen exposed

TURNS out this isn’t the only lazy postie not even attempting to deliver mail. Dozens of dissatisfied customers have descended on Australia Post.

Dodgy delivery caught on camera

DOZENS of dissatisfied customers have descended on Australia Post’s social media pages with complaints of postmen failing to deliver mail without even trying.

The barrage of complaints came after news.com.au exposed the nationwide issue yesterday publishing CCTV footage showing a Sydney courier approaching an address empty-handed and slipping a “failed to deliver” slip under the door without attempting to get the resident’s attention.

Hundreds have commented on the story sharing similar experiences, and the postal service’s Facebook page has been inundated with details from dissatisfied customers who hadn’t received deliveries.

“Australia Post almost always fail to deliver packages to me. No attempt at delivery, always blame subcontractors, nothing done. Zero care factor,” a Sydney customer wrote this morning.

“Its about time these lazy delivery drivers have been caught out. its happened to so many of us. How about Aust. Post promising a proper investigation into this and actually doing something about it,” a Brisbane mail recipient wrote.

“This is getting out of hand, twice in two week I have had my items “awaiting collection” due to an “attempted delivery”. No slip in the mailbox or under my door, I’ve only found out when tracking the item. I work from home, my office overlooks the mailbox, both times NO Australia Post postman has come past.”

Customers have called for a full-scale investigation into failed deliveries where a genuine attempt to deliver is not made.

In a statement to news.com.au the now private postal company would not commit to an internal inquiry, with a spokeswoman saying they would “welcome customer feedback”.

Following the negative press and social media backlash generated by Sydney mum Julie Salama’s experience, Australia Post has told news.com.au it has taken disciplinary action with the driver involved.

Australia Post delivery drivers were reminded of their requirements at “a talk” on Wednesday.

The address to all drivers centred around the company’s “knock and call out” process which requires drivers to knock at the door three times and call out “Australia Post”.

“It has been shown to increase the number of successful first-time deliveries when at the customer‘s premises,” drivers were told.

Lazy postie busted again

Ms Salama told news.com.au her regular driver, who had been exposed in the video captured by her home security system, had knocked on her door yesterday and personally apologised.

The apology came after a “failed to deliver” notice was dropped off at Ms Salama’s address, and caught on camera, for a second day in a row after the original footage was published.

Other Australia Post customers have threatened to expose lazy Australia Post worker through their own CCTV footage.
