NZX trades climb in September

THE value of trading on New Zealand's sharemarket lifted 23 per cent in September despite commodity prices hurting the benchmark index over three months.

THE value of share trading on New Zealand's stock exchange has climbed 23 per cent, rounding out a quarter in which the benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index has posted its biggest three-month decline in more than three years.

THE total value of equity trading rose 22 per cent to $3.4 billion in September, compared to September 2014, while the total number of trades climbed 29 per cent to 120,305, according to NZX's monthly metrics.
