Presenter Samantha Maiden’s text message mis-sent to Abbott adviser

THE SKY News presenter called a “mad f---ing witch” in a misfired text by Peter Dutton has been left red-faced after doing the same thing to Tony Abbott’s media adviser.

Astro Labe has admitted headbutting former Prime Minister Tony Abbott in Hobart — an incident that led to text embarrassment for a Sky presenter.

THE SKY News presenter famously called a “mad f---ing witch” in a misfired text by Immigration Minister Peter Dutton has been left red-faced after doing the same thing to Tony Abbott’s media adviser.

In a bizarre twist of fate, TV reporter Samantha Maiden accidentally sent an expletive-ridden text message to the former Prime Minister’s media adviser after getting into a dispute about the motive for Thursday’s attack on Mr Abbott by a self-described anarchist.

“He just f---ing rang me, I’m on f---ing air ... f — k he’s an idiot,” she wrote in a message intended for a colleague.

Mr Abbott’s adviser laughed off the mistake, telling the reporter to go “easy on the sauce, Sam, it’s not even 10am”.

Ms Maiden’s relationship with the adviser soured after she claimed the Hobart attack had nothing to do with same-sex marriage on air.

She said the adviser had told her the only link between the assault and the postal vote was the same-sex marriage badge the assailant wore.

Ms Maiden said she would happily apologise for the mistaken text.

“I’m happy to apologise to (the adviser) for my misfired text,” she said.

“A good example of there by the grace of God go all of us. ”

Mr Dutton made headlines last year after accidentally sending Ms Maiden a similarly offensive text.

At the time Mr Dutton said he had a “laugh” with Ms Maiden over the mistake and “apologised to her straight away”.

Ms Maiden took the mistake in good spirits and defended Mr Dutton on television.
