ALDI has recalled several home brand biscuit and snack products due to possible “pest contamination”, and severed ties with the factory where they were made.

The products, made by Baketime Ltd, have been withdrawn from sale in the United Kingdom “on a precautionary basis” due to “potential unhygienic manufacturing conditions”, the recall notice says.

Affected products include Aldi Cheese Thins, Aldi Cheese Bakes, Aldi Oddbites and Aldi Ginger Nuts, which are not sold in Australia.

An Aldi spokeswoman said all orders with the supplier had been suspended while the matter was investigated.

“If you have purchased any of these products, do not consume them,” the spokeswoman said in a statement to The Mirror.

“Customers who have bought these products with these batch codes are asked to return them immediately to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given.

“No other batch codes are affected. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your co-operation.”

The factory has closed voluntarily while food safety authorities investigate.

Other home brand products sold at British supermarkets Asvina, Booker and LBV have also been recalled.

They include Bestway Mini All Butter Shortbread, Bestway Mini Brownies, Bestway Mini Cheese Thins, Bestway Mini Choc Chip Cookies, Happy Shopper Cheese Thins, Happy Shopper Fudge Brownies, Happy Shopper Choc Chip Cookies, LBV Potato Bakes Korma, LBV Potato Bakes Mild Thai, and LBV Strawberry and Vanilla Biscotti.

“Baketime Ltd is recalling the above products as a precautionary measure,” the Food Standards Agency’s recall notice said.

“They have provided all their customers with point-of-sale notices for display in stores ... No other products manufactured by Baketime Ltd are known to be affected.”
