Kathmandu speculation spurs NZ shares

A BROKER report suggesting Briscoe may bid again for Kathmandu has boosted Kathmandu shares 4.3 per cent in an improving market.

THE New Zealand sharemarket has advanced, led by Kathmandu Holdings on speculation it may be subject to another takeover offer.

THE S&P/NZX 50 Index gained 37.03 points, or 0.7 per cent, to 5630.54 on Monday.
