Our first thought was of Black Books' Little Book of Calm. Yours may be "WTF". The free De-Stress app for the iPhone is essentially a collection of sometimes useful, often badly-puncuated pieces of advice. Like a magic 8-ball, you simply shake your phone to bring up a random little tidbit. There's even one that tells you to stop using your phone. The irony!

Whether you will enjoy this app depends largely on whether or not you think hypnotherapy is something you should actually pay for. Hypnokit comes complete with the dulcet tones of an actual hypnotherapist, and each of the three sessions is a combination of hypnotherapist narration and soothing music. We weren't game enough to actually spend money on it, but there are others who will swear by it.

A fantastic app, designed specifically with those suffering from bipolar disorder or depression in mind. This program essentially allows yourself to quickly and easily register your mood at any given time, as well as allowing you to gauge your mood through a series of questions. You can also record your medication usage, as well as other statistics such as weight gain/loss and hours of sleep. Even better, you can use the app to email stats to your doctor, or even share your experiences with other users. Fantastically useful.

This little app tells you whether you're stressed. Ignoring the fact that you'll probably know before it does whether you're overly stressed or not, it's actually quite nifty. For a free app, it's quite well put together, but be warned; if the results of the quiz portion of this app don't turn out like you think they should, don't get all... well, stressed.

There are equivalent apps on virtually ever oyher kind of mobile you care to choose, but Windows Mobile's pick of the bunch is certainly the Bubble Wrap app. There's nothing better for killing stress than popping bubble wrap, and now you can do just that, except with less actual bubble wrap, and more your phone's touchscreen. It's still good, at least for the first minute, but we suspect it may have lost something in translation. We're guessing actual bubble wrap.

Bejeweled

Bejeweled, from the casual games king PopCap, is one of the most addictive puzzlers you're ever likely to play. A game that's slightly reminicscient of Tetris and Connect 4, the idea is to swap gems in an 8X8 to get similar jewels to appear next to each other in rows or columns of 3 or more.

A heck of a lot of fun; just make sure you don't spend TOO much time playing it. An iPhone app of Bejewled 2 is available on the Apps Store, while Android users can download a version of the first Bejeweled (although this appears to run very slowly). Android 2.2 users (for the moment, that's you precious few Google Nexus owners in Australia) may also be able to use the free web version, thanks to the Adobe Flash support, but we were unable to test this.

There's nothing like quite like searching for obscure objects hidden behind conveniently placed yaks, not, is there? Certainly not when you're trying to swipe a few minutes in which to destress during a busy work day. Hidden Expedition takes this concept by the horns (so to speak), and milks it for all its worth, in a classic find-an-object game set on the world's tallest mountain.
