Commonwealth Bank experiencing ‘system problems’
UPDATE: CBA claims banking services have been restored after a network wide glitch left customers unable to access ATMs or EFTPOS.
UPDATE: COMMONWEALTH Bank claims to have resolved a network-wide glitch that left thousands of customers unable to access online banking, ATMs and EFTPOS facilities.
Commonwealth Bank spokeswoman Tracy Hicks said the technical issue has been resolved and full services are progressively being restored.
“We sincerely apologise to any customer who has been inconvenienced with this disruption to services. Given the high volume of calls into our call centres, customers may experience longer than usual waiting times. Thank you for your patience.”
All services are restored, including ATMs, NetBank and EFTPOS. We thank you for your patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

However it may take longer for some than others, with the bank tweeting that those still experiencing issues would be treated with priority.
Some of our customers are still experiencing issues now services are restored. These are being resolved as priority. Thanks and more to come

Earlier in the day the banking giant admitted to experiencing system problems.
The issue affected a range of services including ATMs, EFTPOS facilities and online banking. Customers also reported on social media branches were unable to process transactions and helplines were down.

Investors were also unable to log in to online share trading platform CommSec. One investor, who wanted to be known only as John, said he tried to log in for over an hour and was worried he would lose money as a result.
Frustrated customers took to Twitter to vent their anger at the lack of information about the issue.
@CommSec how nice that employees can access data. Perhaps paying customers could too!

The company’s Facebook page was also inundated with complaints, particularly from small businesses who are unable to process transactions.
“Not only has our EFTPOS gone down, but there is no way to access any support sources at your bank - even our local CBA in Bowral has gone to taped messages. How on earth are we supposed to find out what’s going on! We are a small retailer and are missing out on vital sales due to this! Not good enough,” wrote Bowral Bags.
Commonwealth Bank has not yet confirmed the extent of the issue. CommSec advised clients wanting to trade shares to phone them instead.
We understand some clients are having issues logging into the CommSec website. We are investigating and will provide further updates.

On the bright side, some optimistic customers were thrilled to find their home loan had disappeared.
“So it’s working again now according to some people? If I log into my netbank now (12:41pm) I don’t have a home loan anymore. NICE! Thanks Commbank,” said Ryan Hill on Facebook.
