Why it’s time you paid a visit to your favourite Queensland theme parks
Village Roadshow’s Queensland theme parks just keep getting better. Isn’t it time you planned a trip north?

Of all the underwater creatures, are any as fascinating as sea jellies, with their tentacles that flow and bodies that glow?
They're wobbly, gelatinous, come in a mind-bending array of shapes and sizes, and have umbrella-shaped bodies that expand and contract to help propel them through the water. And they're coming to Sea World on the Gold Coast!
For the Sea Jellies Illuminated dark exhibit, opening in mid-2018, Sea World has partnered with Griffith University on a project that is not only entertaining but educational. A working research lab will be incorporated into the exhibit, where students will be able to study the sea jellies.
Sea Jellies Illuminated is one of a host of new attractions coming to Village Roadshow Theme Parks in Queensland, which include Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World and Wet’n’Wild Gold Coast.
At Warner Bros. Movie World, the Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster Next Generation is on its way, featuring the spookiest scenes from the Scooby-Doo film and new high tech special effects. Experience the Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster like never before with this fresh take on a classic ride.
Village Roadshow Theme Parks is always looking for new ways to delight, excite and entertain people of all ages, and 2018 is shaping as its biggest year ever, with over 95 rides, shows and attractions across its Queensland parks.
These new offerings will join a range of recent additions, including the DC Rivals HyperCoaster at Movie World.
Less than a year old, the DC Rivals HyperCoaster is the tallest (61.6 metres), longest (1.4 km, almost double the length of any other ride in Australia) and fastest (top speed of 115 km/h) HyperCoaster in the Southern Hemisphere. It is pure buzz, and includes an 89 degree drop as you descend from the Joker’s head.
The Reef at Castaway Bay is one of three superb new attractions at Sea World. The Reef, an interactive splash area, is loads of fun, with a range of immersive water features and effects, featuring water cannons and interactive character sculptures, over a 740 square metre site.
“A great feature of The Reef is that the entire precinct is fully accessible, so all of our guests can become fully immersed in the attraction and share in the experience,” Village Roadshow Theme Parks CEO Clark Kirby said when The Reef opened.
The Seal Guardians presentation opened this year at Sea World, delighting and informing guests, while taking them on an important mission to help protect the ocean from plastic pollution.
“Seal Guardians is unlike anything we’ve done before at Sea World, with digital, two-legged, finned and feathered friends combining in an entertaining and educational presentation,” said Sea World’s Curator of Mammals and Birds Mitchell Leroy.
“Seal Theatre has undergone a complete transformation with an all-new colourful set which will transport Sea World guests to Sea Lab One, which is the most technologically advanced ocean clean up facility in the world.”
Meanwhile, Sea World’s popular polar bear cub Mishka graduated to the main Polar Bear Shores exhibit in March, a month before she turned one and celebrated with a fishy birthday cake, of course!
Polar Bear Shores is home to a cascading waterfall, a large main pool that is up to four metres deep, and an array of climbing outcrops, fallen trees, shrubs and other structures.
