Disco Queens: Samantha Jade

To mark the release of the spectacular 3rd studio album The Best Of My Love Australia’s pop ingénue Samantha Jade is set to take her all-new touring show on the road late August andSeptember. Presented by Sony Music Entertainment Australia, the show includes a shimmering homage to the disco era, filled with tributes to greats like Donna Summer, Diana Ross and Gloria Gaynor with songs such as ‘Best Of My Love’, ‘I Will Survive’, ‘We Are Family’, ‘Upside Down’,‘How Deep is Your Love’ plus Samantha’s fan favourites and established pop smashes like ‘Firestarter’, ‘Always’ and ‘What You’ve Done To Me’ to name a few. The Best Of My Love Live will feature support from The Voice Australia 2016 winner Alfie Arcuri.

Regular and casual stallholders are welcome. Operated by the RotaryClub of Padstow, proceeds support charitable local and international projects.

Paste-it-UP! Workshop with street artist Mandy Schone-Salter (7- 11 yrs)​

Where: Incubate Artists Studios, Bankstown
When: October 9th, 10am-12pm

Are your children interested in art and drawing? Paste it UP! is a unique street art workshop with artist Mandy Schone-Salter. In this workshop, participants will experience the world of paste-ups. Each student will get to create their own unique paste up artwork, which will then be pasted onto the inside of Incubate ArtistsStudios. This is the perfect workshop for anyone interested in drawing and getting to know more about art in the urban environment.

Library Native Animals Shows

Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre & Campsie Library and Knowledge Centre.

Bankstown and Campsie Library and Knowledge Centres will be hosting Australian wildlife displays, who will be running hands-on demonstrations of native animals. Bookings are essential and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Household Chemical CleanOut

The City of Canterbury Bankstown Council will be holding a free Household Chemical CleanOut event that will allow you to safely dispose of household and garden chemicals. Items that can be disposed include:paint, batteries, pesticides, herbicides, motor oil, pool chemicals and more.

Mental Health Month Film Festival

As a celebration of Mental Health Month, the City of Canterbury Bankstown is hosting a series of free films in partnership with South Western Sydney Local Health District, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, BankstownArts Centre, Wellways and One Door Mental Health’s Carer Services. The films will be shown at various locations across the Canterbury Bankstown area in the month of October and will focus on the mental health journeys of its characters and their families.

Walking Football Tournament

Where: Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre -150 Belmore Road, Riverwood
When: 10am on Tuesdays from 16 October

Active Canterbury-Bankstown has teamed up with Canterbury District Soccer Football Association to bring walking football to the community. Walking Football is a minimal contact sport, one of the major differences from standard football is that you walk instead of run. It is the perfect activity for individuals looking to stay active, but don’t want to participate in high-intensity contact sport. It is also a great way to socialise and catchup with friends. It is ideal for men and women over the age of 55, but it is open to all ages.
