The hottest thing in cooling on the Gold Coast is MyAir, offering homeowners the opportunity to install a stylish control pad which controls the temperature and acts as a smart home hub while also saving money on power bills.
Designed and manufactured in Australia by Advantage Air, the MyAir controller is housed in a tablet device and can be mounted in the kitchen, the living room, or wherever the homeowner will get the most use out of it.
“Any app can be downloaded onto the MyAir controller, so if it's in the kitchen you can download weather apps, music or perhaps a cooking app," said Darren Bee, managing director of Advantage Air.
"You can control the temperature across the house while listening to Ed Sheeran, ordering groceries, checking emails and making Jamie Oliver's Osso Buco all at the same time, through the same device."
The MyAir app for your other smart devices is compatible with both android and Apple products and can be accessed from anywhere in the world that has internet service.
"You can switch on the air conditioning 30 minutes before you leave work and know that you're coming home to a cool house," he said.
One of the many brilliant functions of the MyAir controller is that it divides the house into up to 10 zones, while a standard air conditioning controller system will only have around four.
"Considering the average home has around 10 rooms, it's easy to work out that there will be multiple rooms in each zone and if they're not being used, you're wasting power and money cooling or heating the rooms which are empty," said Mr Bee.
"With MyAir, we can divide the house into 10 zones ensuring you are only cooling the rooms you are using, conserving energy and saving you money on your power bills."
MyAir also comes with motion sensors which detect when someone has been in the room and left. When there is no movement for a period of time it will adjust the temperature accordingly.
Energy prices have soared over the last decade and according to the Australian Government's www.yourhome.gov.au, heating and cooling costs amount to around 40 per cent of the household budget.
"With a long hot summer predicted for southeast Queensland, it's important to ensure you're using the most energy efficient technology and MyAir certainly ticks that box," he said.
Cold Front Air Conditioning are a Tweed Heads based company and are one of Advantage Air’s specialised dealers. Cold Front are licensed to design, install and commission this market leading product.
Cold Front's business development manager Les Jones said homes here on the Gold Coast need to be air conditioned, so the MyAir controller was “the future in Air Conditioning with its superior control functions”
"We really have moved from providing a box which cools and heats your house to technology which integrates and helps manage your life in a tablet device," said Mr Jones.
"We've got customers who have mounted the tablet in their kitchen and they use it to Skype call their elderly relatives to help identify which medication they need to take.
"We've got others who have installed it in one of their living areas and are using it as an extra TV screen so their kids can watch Netflix.
"It's remarkable at how versatile it is and it can help families in so many different ways."
The MyAir controller works in conjunction with a standard air conditioning system but is a huge step up from the controllers which may have a snowflake or the sun to differentiate the cooling and heating modes.
"It's remarkable how confusing the old style controllers can be, if I've got it on the snowflake does that mean its winter and I need to use it to heat - or is it the opposite?
“The MyAir controller is incredibly easy to use, even for older homeowners and for those who might be scared of technology.
"Advantage Air has a very responsive service team consumer support center who are available every day from 7am-7pm, if there are ever any questions or issues.”
Mr Jones said the controller, which comes in an 8-inch or 10-inch screen, was aesthetically beautiful and will complement any home, rather than being placed in a hallway out of sight.
"Smart homes are the way of the future so the MyAir controller will also add value when it comes to selling the home."
Cold Front installs air conditioning systems for many of the Gold Coast's new homes, including Porter Davis, Metricon Homes, Plantation Homes, Coral Homes and retirement community builders Halcyon.
"Around 90 per cent of people who buy a Coral Home upgrade to the MyAir controller from the standard air conditioning inclusion,” Mr Jones said.
"For a very small price, they get the best on the market and they make that money back very quickly from the savings they make on their energy bills."
But it's not just new homes which can have the MyAir controller installed, MyAir can also be retro-fitted on most homes already fitted with ducted air-conditioning.
