Sexual abuse allegations levelled against Woody Allen by his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow are at the core of an explosive four-part documentary series to be released later this month.

Allen v Farrow, from award-winning filmmakers Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering, promises to go behind “decades of sensational headlines to reveal the private story of one of Hollywood’s most notorious and public scandals”.

In 1992, Allen was accused of sexually molesting his then seven-year-old daughter Dylan, who he had adopted with Mia Farrow.

Allen, now 85, has repeatedly denied the allegation.

“I never molested my daughter — as all investigations concluded a quarter of a century ago,” the film director said in a statement in 2018, after Dylan gave her first TV interview about the allegation on CBS This Morning.

The new series features never-before-seen video of Dylan’s account immediately after the accusations, home video shot by Mia Farrow of the children in Connecticut and audio recordings of some of the couple’s conversations.

The tape has sparked decades-long debate as to whether the young girl was telling the truth or if her mum coached her responses.

“It had been so extensively covered and a lot of our work goes into new cases,” Dick told The New York Times.

“But as we got into it, we found there was a great deal more. We pivoted because we realised the full story had never gotten out.”

The series includes interviews with Dylan Farrow, Mia Farrow and Mia’s biological son with Allen, Ronan Farrow — a journalist known for his coverage in The New Yorker of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual abuse crimes.
