Winners are finally grinners: The Block duo Dan and Dani win first room reveal ever

AFTER a series of winless weeks that all seemed to roll into one for Dan and Dani, the once-in-trouble couple finally got their sweet victory.

AFTER a series of winless weeks that all seemed to roll into one for Dan and Dani, the once-in-trouble couple finally got their sweet victory.

And by a mighty margin, at that.

“It was pure relief”, Dani admits. “We got to the point where we thought we wouldn’t win a single room”, she tells news.com.au.

With the other couples all having victories under their tool belts, this week’s big win couldn’t have come at a better time.

“It was a relief to get the $5,000 which we desperately needed to do the garden. We had the basics but we needed that cash to make it pretty”, she adds, referring to the highly-anticipated exterior reveal coming up on Tuesday night.

In the final countdown to the delivery of the very last room, it was the exteriors that were causing the couples major headaches and everyone was caught up in the chaos, with Phil and Amity styling right down to the wire.

But for Dan and Dani it was a cruise to the finish line with their living room reveal and the dynamic duo walked away with first prize, followed by Phil and Amity, then Josh and Jenna in third place and Duncan and Dale being awarded chumps.

The fiery pair, known for fighting like cats and dogs, claim that their philosophy has always been to bare themselves, warts and all, in front of the cameras.

“Every married couple that approaches us tells us ‘you guys remind us of ourselves, it’s refreshing’.

“There’s no point holding it in, we just let it all out”, Dani says, spilling that the other couples clash just as much, but only behind closed doors.

The Victorian-based duo - who are still based at their much-loved Block residency - admit that they caught a serious case of PBD (post-Block depression) after the All Stars series wrapped.

“It wasn’t leaving The Block, per se, it was about leaving everybody and going back to being on your own. You do feel a bit of a loss”, the 27-year-old clarifies.

"When you come off a show as full on as The Block, you do need to keep stimulated, otherwise you just feel like a bum."

Dani also assures that she and Dan are on good terms with Keith the foreman these days, despite more than a few run-ins throughout the season.

“Keith took his authority level in a new direction this year, and he came down harder on us because we are friends… Unfortunately we got a little off-foot during the series.”

And as for main competition Phil and Amity: “Amity rubbed Jenna and I the wrong way unfortunately, things were taken out of context [on the show], there’s no angst.”

So what are they doing with themselves to keep the PBD at bay?

They're on the road with Mitre 10 for The Mighty Aussie Road Trip. Dani also spills to news.com.au that she's launching her very own blog next week, The Home Journal.

"It's a bit of fun - food, interior design, architecture, colours", she says.

The creative couple is also on the hunt for another property to buy and renovate. 

But, as to whether fans can expect any OTHER big news, Dani assures us that their lives "are crazy enough as it is"... for now anyway.
