We finally have a proper trailer for Game of Thrones, season six
A NEW trailer for Game of Thrones’ sixth season has left fans picking their jaws up off the ground.
A NEW trailer for Game of Thrones’ sixth season has left fans picking their jaws up off the ground.
The trailer, released this morning, finally gives us a glimpse of what to expect from the hit HBo show this year — and it picks up right where season five left off., with Jon Snow lying in the snow at Castle Black.
“He’s gone,” a voice says. It sounds like Max von Sydow, who plays the so-called Bloodraven.
Later, Jon’s eyes are shut by the hands of an unknown character, while his body lies still and dead.
At the other end of the world, we see Daenerys, who ran into a Dothraki clan at the end of season five after fleeing Meereen on the back of her dragon. Here, she’s ragged and marching into Vaes Dothrak, seemingly as a prisoner. Meanwhile, Jorah is trying to track her down.
Over in King’s Landing, the High Sparrow is still exerting control. “Every one of us is poor and powerless and yet we can overthrow an empire,” he says.
Elsewhere in the capital, Jaime Lannister is rekindling his love and lust with sister Cersei. It seems the death of their daughter Myrcella may have inspired the incestuous couple to seek bloody revenge.
“We’re the only ones that matter and everything they have taken from us we are going to take back and more,” Jamie Lannister says.
In a later scene Cersei takes on her other bed friend, cousin Lancel, who was last seen rising in the ranks of the Sparrow order.
“Order your man to step aside or there will be violence,” Lancel Lannister says referring to the menacing, apparently undead warrior who has sworn to protect Cersei. “I choose violence,” Cersei replies.
It’s clear that Bran Stark and his new mentor Bloodraven are set to play a huge role in the upcoming season. The second son of the late Ned and Catelyn Stark comes face to face with a Night’s King himself at the climax of the trailer — perhaps in one of his visions.
Finally, Melisandre the Red Priestess appears to be having a confidence crisis. “The great victory I saw in the flames, all of it was a lie,” she says.
Yes, we know, Mel. The big question is this: what will she do next? Fans hope she’ll be resurrecting their favourite character, and maybe the next trailer will grant more clues.
