Viewers erupt over Family Feud watermark logo during emotional Ian Thorpe interview on Channel 10
WHILE Ian Thorpe bared his soul during last night’s tell-all interview with Michael Parkinson, there was something bothering the rest of us — and it wasn’t Thorpie’s new-found sexuality.

Ghastly Family Feud promo watermark on screen for #ianthorpe interview. Poor Ten needs all the help it can get, I guess

There's a Family Feud on Ian Thorpe's neck.

Here’s a visual in case you missed it.
See what we mean?
And it wasn’t long before Australian viewers, including SBS’ Jenny Brockie, comedian Tom Ballard and NovaFM’s Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald, brewed up their own type of feud with Network Ten in the middle of a social media slaughter.

I'm not sure if you're aware but I think channel 10 may have Family Feud starting tomorrow. #Thorpe

The most startling thing I've learnt from the #IanThorpe interview so far is that Family Feud starts tomorrow at 6.

"After a lot of personal struggle, I've finally feel comfortable coming out and saying that I'm ga-FAMILY FEUD STARTS TOMORROW!!!" #Thorpe
â Tom Ballard (@TomCBallard) July 13, 2014
Hey Ch10, Not the most sensitive time to advertise 'Family Feud' whilst Thorpe speaks of depression, suicide & coming out of the closet.

The gargantuan watermark may be a contributing factor for the disappointing ratings result for Network Ten, who were hoping to get the jump on late-night TV viewers. The program failed to hit one million viewers.
Placing eighth for the night at 982,000 viewers, Thorpe’s interview was beaten by the Seven Network, who had four programs topping its rivals, including 7News (1.36m), X Factor (1.22m) and Sunday Night (1.16m).
The result though, is the strongest for Ten in months, which has been plagued with plummeting viewers and financial woes this year, most notably the axing of breakfast program Wake Up.
#IanThorpe and his brave admission... Just a thought but maybe the "Family Feud" watermark could have been moved for a sec lol #awkward

Please get that Family Feud logo off the screen Channel 10. So inappropriate given the dignity of @IanThorpe in this interview #Thorpe
â Jenny Brockie (@JenBrockie) July 13, 2014
That Family Feud neck tattoo that Ian Thorpe got looks terrible #Thorpe
â Dave DeBrincat (@dave_debrincat) July 13, 2014
It is reported Thorpe was paid a whopping $400,000 for his televised confessional, part of a wider deal with Network Ten which will see the five-time Olympic medallist work as a commentator for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
Apparently Ian Thorpe is gay and apparently I'm going to be watching Family Feud tomorrow
â Russell (@russellwsw) July 13, 2014
It's a good thing #IanThorpe 's folks were supportive when he came out. Wouldn't have wanted him to get caught up in a family feud...
â James (@jamesey_baby) July 13, 2014
Hope Ian Thorpe finds some peace - it's been a long journey @IanThorpe ... good on you but Ch10 logo for Family Feud - seriously??
â Selina Steele (@SelinaSteele) July 13, 2014
This Ian Thorpe Interview would be more revealing if that massive Family Feud watermark wasn't in the way #Thorpe
â Brad James (@CaptCreative) July 13, 2014
Based on all of the ads, I'm shocked Channel 10 didn't just go all out and film the #IanThorpe interview on the set of Family Feud.

Ten is hoping the resurrection of the old-school TV game show, which premieres tonight, will be the answer to the network’s troubles.
Formally with Seven, host Grant Denyer jumped ship and signed with Ten in late May.
News.com.au has contacted Network Ten for comment.
I hope Parky gives him a big novelty cheque for $400,000 at the end of this. #IanThorpe
