SECRETS & Lies is the big new Aussie drama hopeful for Ten based on the murder of a child. It’s gripping stuff and you can watch the first episode in full here.

IT IS great to have some good Aussie drama back on TV and March 3 will see the premiere of Network 10’s big local hope Secrets & Lies.

The dark and eerie show is set in Brisbane and follows the story of a family man who finds the body of a young boy and quickly becomes the prime murder suspect.

It should be a classic ‘whodunnit’ murder mystery but this show feels real and raw, perhaps given how palpable the angst is over anything to do with the death of a child.

The ill-fated characters leave you feeling desperate at the powerlessness of their situation. It’s gripping stuff.

Martin Henderson is amazing in the lead role as you never quite know what is going on in his head. His marital problems, weird late night calls to the victim’s mother and Lothario looks all don’t bode well for him.

Secrets & Lies is a modern day Twin Peaks and the tension laden story has even caught the eyes of US producers who are re-creating it for American audiences.
