People vs O.J. Simpson to hit Netflix
IT DOMINATED the cultural zeitgeist in the US for months. But if you missed it on TV, you’ll finally be able to catch it on streaming.
AMERICAN Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson has been dominating the cultural conversation in the US this year.
And for any Australians who missed the series on Channel 10 and don’t want to pay for it on iTunes, it will be available on Netflix next year. Netflix has secured the global streaming rights (excluding Canada) to the first season and every season of the anthology series thereafter once it’s been broadcast on TV.
The lauded miniseries about the spectacular trial of O.J. Simpson for the murder of Nicole Simpson was addictive viewing as the show captured the chaotic spirit of early 1990s America.
Delving deep into the behind-the-scenes of a globally infamous trial, this insightful series examined the intrigue and drama of both sides. All this in the shadow of a city, Los Angeles, still dealing with the aftermath of Rodney King and a legacy of police brutality against the African-American community.
The 10-episode series starred Cuba Gooding Jr as the disgraced former football star, joined by a talented cast including Sarah Paulson, David Schwimmer, Courtney B. Vance, John Travolta, Sterling K. Brown, Christian Clemenson, Bruce Greenwood and Nathan Lane.
It just picked up 22 Emmy nominations, only one nod behind Game of Thrones’ swag of noms.
The second season of American Crime Story will deal with Hurricane Katrina.
