New trailer drops for upcoming Netflix series The Crown

FANS of period dramas and the British royal family are going to be in an absolute tizzy when they see the new trailer for The Crown.

THE world may be having a love affair right now with Wills, Kate and their royal brood.

But there was a time when another pair of young royals captured the spotlight — Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. A new series from Netflix will take a look at the politics and intrigue faced by a young monarch.

A new official trailer for The Crown has just dropped and it will have period fans in an absolute tizzy.

Judging by the trailer, it will also touch on the strain the extraordinary circumstances can have on a husband-and-wife relationship.

A 10-part series, The Crown was written by Peter Morgan, the screenwriter who penned The Queen, which dealt with Queen Elizabeth in the aftermath of Princess Diana’s death. Clearly, he has a bit of a fanboy-thing with Her Majesty.

The Crown also counts among its directors Stephen Daldry, best known for Billy Elliot, The Hours and The Reader.

It stars Claire Foy as the young Queen, former Doctor Who Matt Smith as the Duke of Edinburgh, John Lithgow as Winston Churchill and Jared Harris as King George VI.

The Crown will be available to stream on Netflix on November 4.
