Killing Eve season 3 release date: New episodes fast-tracked on ABC iview
The sexually charged cat-and-mouse thriller will be returning weeks earlier than expected.
The new season of Killing Eve will be here even sooner than expected after it was announced overnight that the series’ third season would debut two weeks earlier than originally planned.
Season three will debut on ABC’s iview streaming service on Monday, April 13 at midday, the same time as the US. The streaming premiere will be followed by a TV broadcast on Sunday, April 19 at 9.30pm.
Killing Eve has made a household name of young English actor Jodie Comer, who won the Emmy last year for Outstanding Lead in a Drama Series for her performance in the second season. Co-star Sandra Oh was nominated in the same category.
Comer plays a wily assassin named Villanelle engaged in a sexually charged cat-and-mouse pursuit across Europe with MI5 agent Eve Polastri (Oh) – though throughout the series, who’s the cat and who’s the mouse is constantly shifting.
The second season ended on a cliffhanger with (spoilers ahead for season two) Villanelle shooting Eve and seemingly leaving her for dead among some ancient ruins.
Killing Eve also stars Fiona Shaw as Eve’s boss at MI5, who has an opaque agenda and a secret past with Villanelle’s handler Konstantin (Kim Bodnia).
Killing Eve was based on a book series by Luke Jennings and originally adapted for TV by Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge who wrote the first series. Emerald Fennell, who played Camilla Parker-Bowles on season three of The Crown and penned and directed upcoming film Promising Young Woman, took over writing duties for season two.
The third season was written by Suzanne Heathcote, a scribe on Fear the Walking Dead and See.
Season one of Killing Eve is available to stream on Stan while season two can be streamed on iview.
