Tracy Grimshaw makes surprise career move as she eyes comeback
The former A Current Affair star is finally returning to screens after almost a year away.
An Australian TV icon is finally set to make a comeback to screens in a surprise move.
Tracy Grimshaw is set to return to Aussie TV this year after stepping away from her longtime role on A Current Affair in November 2022.
Channel 9 announced on Friday that the veteran TV journalist, 63, is set to co-host a brand new series alongside medical expert Dr Nick Coatsworth.
The forthcoming show, titled Do You Want To Live Forever?, will explore our current-day obsession with staying young and healthy as we strive to outlive former generations.
Grimshaw and her co-host will follow four pairs of everyday Australians as they undergo medically supervised trials and health interventions that may provide clues to help us live longer. Through them, the pair hope to understand what the future holds for Aussie parents and kids in a bid to help them lead better, healthier, longer lives.
“I’m keen to explore exactly what a long life will look like,” said Grimshaw of the new series.
“While in honesty I really haven’t spent my life looking for the Fountain of Youth, I’m fascinated by how far people are taking that search, and how advanced medicine is becoming in that space.”
Dr Coatsworth added: “For centuries people have been captivated by the idea of living forever. I am extremely excited to be working with the highly respected Tracy Grimshaw on this new series.”
Grimshaw’s surprise career move was announced on Friday by Allison Langdon, who took over Grimshaw’s ACA role when she left.
“What I learned last year being in the ACA office is that Tracy loves a medical story, “said Langdon. “She goes into the minutiae of it and she’s looking at footnotes, so this is a perfect job for her to come back to. The fact that she’s teaming up with Nick Coatsworth, it’s going to be a really fantastic series. I know the team are already working behind the scenes pulling it all together and it’s going to be magnificent.”
Meanwhile, Grimshaw rubbished rumours recently that she was plotting a return to ACA.
“This is not true,” she tweeted. “I’m not coming back to ACA, I haven’t been into the office this year, no sneaky meetings, and I’ve always said I may do something else next year, that hasn’t changed.”
