A US man who was binge-watching The Walking Dead allegedly beat his friend to death before the other man could “change into a zombie” and eat him, according to reports.

New Mexico man Damon Perry, 23, told police he was drunk and binge-watching the gory show on Netflix when he believed his buddy Christopher Paquin was starting to transform into the flesh-eating undead, according to KOB 4 News.

Trying to prevent a zombie apocalypse, Perry punched and kicked his friend before knocking him out with an electric guitar and microwave, police say.

Perry then ran around the unit complex threatening others with a knife before he was subdued by maintenance workers and officers arrived at the scene.

Paquin’s dead body was found inside an apartment. Perry was being held on the charge of murder.

He allegedly told detectives during his police interview the pair had been drinking when he believed Paquin had begun to change into a zombie and tried to bite him.
