The Project hosts slam Tesla cars and poke fun at Elon’s son’s name
Waleed Aly has admitted that he is fearful of the Tesla cars that can drive themselves after a fatal crash in America over the weekend.
There is something unnerving about getting into a self-driving car, something that the hosts of The Project feel strongly about.
Investigators are “100 per cent sure” no one was driving a 2019 Tesla Model S on Saturday night when it ran off a road, hit a tree and burst into flames, killing two men inside, The Guardian has reports.
One man was found in the front passenger seat and the other was in the back seat.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reportedly sent investigators to 27 Tesla crashes in the past few years.
“You’re scared. You’re scared to death of them, aren’t you?” Carrie Bickmore asked co-host Waleed Aly on Tuesday night’s episode of The Project.
“I’m not a fan,” he answered.

The Project reported that “the deaths came just hours after Tesla founder Elon Musk was spruiking that Tesla’s on autopilot had a ten times lower chance than being in an accident when compared to an average vehicle.”
He also reportedly took to Twitter to explain that the autopilot was not enabled in the fatal crash, according to data logs.
However, the laws are clear that a human has to be in control of the vehicle at all times, as technology isn’t at the point where there is that trust and confidence that it could drive itself around safely.
Carrie asked: “What is it about it that it is unnerving for you?”
“I feel if you put that much trust in technology it’s great, until it goes bad and something will happen. So if it’s connected to some internet-based thing and someone hacks that —”.
“And causes a mass crash?” Kate Langbroek interjected.
“Even if that story when they said that the car was listening, well, I’ve joined those dots myself, obviously the car was listening,” Kate added.
“You joined the dots that Elon Musk and Grimes were sitting at home listening and I’m not sure they were,” Carrie joked.

That’s when Kate poked fun at their son’s name, X AE A-XII.
“With their child, QW ER TY keyboard, and they were all listening and Elon said ‘there’s something wrong with that car, tell them to relax,’ but I’m not relaxed.”
“If you could figure out a way to manipulate that, that would be a disaster.” Waleed continued.
