The Mandalorian: Fans point out awkward editing mistake

Eagle-eyed viewers have taken to social media after noticing a rather obvious editing gaffe in the latest episode of The Mandalorian.

Star Wars fans have lit up social media after spotting a production error in the latest episode of The Mandalorian.

Episode four saw an intense conversation take place between Pedro Pascal – in the title role – and Omera (Julia Jones) but an eagle-eyed fan noticed that a mic boom fell into the shot several times, reports The Sun.

Looks a little out of place.

He filmed the scene and posted it on YouTube, thanking his wife for noticing the error, captioning the video: “Still love this show can’t believe my wife saw this.”

Others also took to Twitter to share the mistake, with one tweeting director Jon Favreau to call him out: “Hey, @Jon_Favreau the mandalorian is great, BUT. In episode 4, at 16:37 … the boom mic is in the shot at the top right. smh.”

“Surprised no one’s talking about the clearly visible boom mic in one shot in the newest episode of the Mandalorian,” added another.

One fan joked however: “First of all … that’s not a boom mic. It is obviously just a house droid going about its business.”

It’s not the first – and won’t be the last – show to feature this kind of error; Game Of Thrones famously fell foul of this kind of mistake in season eight when a rogue coffee cup appeared in one scene.

The tense episode included several dramatic scenes as the characters dealt with the aftermath of the Battle of Winterfell – but it was a takeaway cup that stole the show for Game of Thrones viewers.

As Daenerys Targaryen stared sadly at revellers celebrating the Night King’s defeat, a coffee cup sat just in front of her amid the medieval props.

Addressing the gaffe, HBO later revealed the cup was actually a craft services coffee cup, not Starbucks, and added: “The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.”

Daenerys actress Emilia Clarke later claimed the culprit behind the errant coffee cup was co-star Conleth Hill but he denied the accusations.

The cup was later confirmed to be from a local coffee shop in Banbridge, Northern Ireland, where much of the series was filmed, and HBO removed the cup from all re-runs of the episode.

The Mandalorian, the new Star Wars spin-off series, launched in November on Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+.
