WARNING: Spoilers.

For all of us who have been desperately waiting for the final season of Stranger Things, the decision to stagger the episodes and split the season in two has been agonising. Luckily, we’ve just been given a sneak peak of what’s to come.

And yes, there will be spoilers for the most recent season below.

At the end of the first half of season four, we were left with the big reveal that Eleven’s helper in escaping the lab of her childhood was actually child number 001 – aka Henry Creel, aka the very same nemesis, Vecna, now plaguing the town of Hawkins.

So what can the short trailer for the final episodes tell us?

Social media has plenty of theories – from Vecna being the one who kidnapped Will in season one, to speculation over where Vecna sources his power and the key to stopping him.

It’s hard to get too much out of a 30-second trailer, and the only thing I can say for certain is that Eleven faces off with Vecna.

But now fans with a keener eye than mine believe the trailer managed to include a major spoiler. As watchers will know, episode seven left us with Nancy Wheeler (played by Natalia Dyer) trapped by Vecna in the Upside Down.

One glimpse we get in the short finale trailer is Nancy out of her Vecna-induced trance and alongside Steve and Robin – although they’re still in the Upside Down. So she might be free, but who knows if they’re safe.

Apart from that, there’s a lot of fleeing, worried faces and explosions.

Fans are already getting pumped for the end of Stranger Things.

“Sometimes I get a li’l sad but then I remember Stranger Things is coming back with part two of season four in July and I get happy again,” said one Twitter user.

“I’m literally dying waiting for season four part two of Stranger Things I’M NOT OK,” said another.

There are only two episodes left in season four (although the final one will apparently run for two-and-a-half hours, so grab the popcorn), and they’re set to drop on Netflix on July 1.
