Season two of Teresa Palmer’s series A Discovery Of Witches drops today

Seven years after marrying, Teresa Palmer has revealed the unconventional way she first formed a romance with her husband.

Teresa Palmer recently celebrated her seven-year wedding anniversary with husband Mark Webber, where she surprised fans after revealing their romance kicked off with a single tweet.

The Australian actress marked their happy milestone in December, sharing a screenshot of a 2012 tweet in which she congratulated Webber on the movie he had directed, The End Of Love.

Speaking to news.com.au, Palmer, whose supernatural series A Discovery Of Witches just dropped its second season on Binge, revealed how they sparked up a union after the brief Twitter exchange.

“Mark slipped into the DMs,” she said. “We just had a lot in common, we both loved the same favourite obscure vegan restaurant no one had ever heard of in a downtown Korean mall with weird opening times.

“We ended up emailing for 40 days until we met face-to-face for the first time. It was nice because we really got to know each other and fell in love with each other’s spirit,” she said.

“It was a blossoming friendship to start off with and I eventually realised, this is my person.”

The 34-year-old mother-of-four, who grew up in Adelaide and is now based in Los Angeles, is promoting the second season of A Discovery Of Witches as she prepares to wrap filming on the third season, which was ordered back in 2018 when it first aired.

She plays reluctant witch Diana Bishop in the show, which is based on the best-selling All Souls Trilogy by author Deborah Harkness.

Peppered with vampires, witches, time travel and forbidden romance, Palmer said the second season was coming at a dream time for viewers craving escapism.

“So many countries are going back into lockdown and it’s (the second season) about to drop right at the height of lockdown, so it’s going to be wonderfully received. People are looking for that. That’s the feedback we’ve been receiving.

“I love the fantasy elements, you can tap into your imagination and lose yourself in a way that doesn’t feel familiar.”

And although those magical moments Palmer is talking about may look seamless on the small screen, she admits there’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to portray a witch.

“I actually have a witch teacher, my witch coach. She’s this really soulful, amazing woman named Sarah and she is a movement coach,” she said.

“Diana is an incredibly skilled witch, and the movements are all choreographed. Everything I do has a specific meaning that’s rooted in history.

“So we both researched witches of the past and from there we’ve come up with a series of movements.

“I feel like I have a rule book with 40 different moves. It’s been my favourite part of study.”

As well as portraying jockey Michelle Payne in the 2019 movie Ride Like A Girl, one of Palmer’s most celebrated roles came in 2016 when she played Dorothy Schutte in the Oscar-winning Mel Gibson film, Hacksaw Ridge.

Palmer said being a part of the film was the “highlight” of her career.

“Shooting that film and working with Andrew Garfield (Desmond Doss), and that beautiful cast in Sydney,” she began.

“I loved the script and his (Desmond’s) story being so true to his heart and spirit, I felt completely honoured to be playing the role of Dorothy.

“I listened to her tapes and spoke to her children. She was this vibrant, beautiful spirit and they had a love like no other.

“I cry every single time (I watch it). I sat next to my dad at the premiere, and he’s not a big crier, and he had tears rolling down his cheeks.

“It was a really special moment in my career.”
