Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated new series Raised By Wolves finally drops tomorrow.

In what marks the acclaimed director’s US TV directorial debut, the “trippy” sci-fi series follows the story of two androids named Father (Abubakar Salim) and Mother (Amanda Collin), who are tasked with raising human children on a mysterious alien planet.

In the post-apocalyptic style world, the androids grapple with controlling the burgeoning colony of humans, who threaten to be torn apart by religious differences.

One early review went as far as declaring the series was the “most exciting sci-fi show in more than a decade”. It airs express from the US on Foxtel’s Fox Showcase tomorrow at 8.30pm.

That level of appraisal has come to be expected of Scott, who has made epics like Gladiator, Alien and Blade Runner.

“I’m always searching for new frontiers in the sci-fi genre and have found a true original in Raised By Wolves – a wholly distinct and imaginative world, full of characters struggling with existential questions,” Scott told Deadline Hollywood in 2018.

“What makes us human? What constitutes a family? And what if we could start over again and erase the mess we’ve made of our planet? Would we survive? Would we do better?”

Scott directed the first two episodes of the 10-episode HBO Max original series, with his son Luke Scott taking over for three of the other episodes.

Scott also co-created the series alongside Aaron Guzikowski, who wrote the 2013 movie Prisoners with Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal.

The duo executive produce alongside David W. Zucker, Jordan Sheehan, Adam Kolbrenner, and Mark Huffam.

Raised By Wolves also stars Winta McGrath, Niamh Algar, Jordan Loughran, Matias Varela, Felix Jamieson, Ethan Hazzard, Aasiya Shah, Ivy Wong, and Travis Fimmel.

Raised By Wolves airs Wednesdays on Foxtel’s Fox Showcase at 8.30pm, and will also be available to stream on demand
