Disney Channel icon Raven-Symone has told fellow teen star Demi Lovato she wasn’t “the nicest person” to work with during their years on the children’s network.

Lovato, now 32, has rallied a host of former teen idols to speak as part of her new Hulu documentary movie Child Star, which sees the US singer interview guests about the difficulties of growing up in the spotlight.

Lovato, who shot to fame on the 2008 Disney Channel original movie Camp Rock before landing her own show Sonny with a Chance a year later, has been candid about her troubled years navigating early fame, which included a past cocaine addiction and several stints in rehabilitation centres.

Raven-Symone, for her part, landed her own series That’s So Raven in 2003, which became a history-making ratings success for the network. The now 38-year-old went on to guest star on one episode of Lovato’s show in 2010, revealing the experience wasn’t entirely pleasant.

Speaking with Lovato in her documentary, Raven-Symone candidly told her she wasn’t “the nicest person” to be around on-set.

“You weren’t like, ‘Welcome!’ You weren’t doing that,” she continued.

“But being the type of person I am and that I’ve been in the industry as long as you, and I understand the glaze over the eyes, I didn’t hold it against you.

“I just was like, ‘Something’s going on there.’”

Lovato confessed she didn’t even remember Raven-Symone guest starring.

“When we first got on the phone to talk about this project, I was like, ‘I watched you on That’s So Raven, [you’re] such an inspiration …’ And you were like, ‘B**ch, I was on your show.’ And I was like, ‘Oh my God, she was’,” Lovato said.

“But it was part of my disassociation that I don’t even remember so much of my show that I was on. But I do remember how difficult I was to work with, because I was in so much pain and I was hurting.”

Lovato previously revealed she had been left with brain damage, among other ongoing ailments, after a near-fatal drug overdose in 2018.

The star told talk show host Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM show last year she was now sober.

“That overdose caused me, you know, it actually caused a disability. I have vision impairment and hearing impairment to this day,” Lovato said.

“It’s a daily constant reminder. You know, anytime I look at something, like, I have blind spots in my vision when I look at your face. And so it’s a constant reminder to stay on the right path because I never want that to happen again.”
