House of the Dragon Season 2 official trailer

After almost a two-year wait, the second season of the award-winning series House Of The Dragon is one month away.

HBO released the first full trailer for the show’s highly anticipated Season 2 on Wednesday, ahead of its premiere on BINGE on June 17.

The new, eight-episode season of the Game of Thrones prequel, based upon George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood, will continue to chronicle the feud between the Hightowers and Targaryens, although this time a fiery civil war looms.

The next chapter sees Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy and Matt Smith returning for another action-packed season where the battle between Queen Alicent Hightower (Cooke) and Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen (D’Arcy) reaches boiling point.

After Season 1 saw Aemond Targaryen’s (Ewan Mitchell) dragon Vhagar kill Lucerys Velaryon (Elliot Grihault), it is game on with Rhaenyra hellbent on revenge.

The Blacks, led by Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen (Smith), plan an invasion of King’s Landing to claim the Iron Throne once and for all. But the Greens have other plans.

The fantasy drama also features returning cast members Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno and Rhys Ifans.

Also joining the cast are new faces Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong, Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf, Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark, and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne.

House Of The Dragon aired its first season in August 2022. It was a hit, with 29 million viewers reportedly tuning into the series each week.

The HOTD plot follows Rhaenyra (played by Aussie actress Milly Alcock as a younger girl and D’Arcy as a woman), who was named the heir to the throne, even though it’s unusual for a woman to rule.

She was originally best friends with Alicent (played by Emily Carey as a young girl before Cooke took over), but their relationship fell apart when Alicent became Rhaenyra’s stepmother.

As mentioned, the prequel follows Daenerys Targaryen’s (Emilia Clarke) ancestors through a civil war, roughly 200 years before the events of Game Of Thrones.

However, unlike in GoT, both sides have dragons, so their battles are extra deadly and chaotic.
