Netflix series Old Enough! captivates viewers
A new Japanese entertainment series has recently hit streaming on Netflix, with viewers flocking to Twitter to dub it “the most wholesome show ever”.
A Japanese reality series which recently hit Netflix has completely and utterly charmed viewers for its “cuteness”.
In what could be the easiest binge ever, Old Enough! is fit with 20, 10-minute episodes, which follow children with a camera crew in tow who embark on simple errands solo.
The first episode introduces us to two-going-on-three-year-old Hiroki, who has to make a 2km round-trip to the grocery store to fetch fish cakes, curry and flowers.
Young Hiroki, fit with all the necessary kit including a bumbag and a flag, is halfway home when realises he’s forgotten a key ingredient – the curry.
Rather than give up, Hiroki makes a dash back to the store.
“I need to return. I forgot the curry,” he says. Melt.
Despite its recent addition to Netflix’s line-up, the show is far from new – having been on TV in Japan since 1991. But it was recently licensed by the streamer, thus, introducing it to a host of new viewers around the world.
People flocked to social media to declare the show one of the most “wholesome” things they’ve ever watched.

If you need a break from sad things, watch “Old Enough†on Netflix. Young, adorable Japanese children being independent in a lovely and safe country. Each episode is only 10-20 minutes of cuteness. 😠Sugoi!

you know instead of squandering their money on shows like is it cake, netflix should just put all that time and effort in to translating more episodes of old enough

YES and it’s AMAZING and if I were a developmental psychologist I’d be all over figuring out how to use it in class but instead we just watch it at night so we go to sleep happy (Netflix - Old Enough) https://t.co/Jt3k2ECndW

An official synopsis from the series reads: “Children go on errands by themselves for the very first time as a camera crew follows along. They shop, go to markets, visit shrines and talk to shopkeepers.”
In Japan, it’s titled Hajimete no Otsukai – which translated is My First Errand.
