Moon Knight reveals first trailer, a dark and terrifying nightmare
Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke star in Marvel’s latest streaming series, based on a character haunted by the unknowable.
Marvel has released the trailer for the upcoming Moon Knight streaming series, and it looks wildly different from the movie studio’s usual fare.
Starring Oscar Isaac, the series is centred on the character of Marc Spector, a man with dissociative identity disorder who becomes a vessel for an Egyptian moon god named Khonshu.
The trailer reveals a haunted and disjointed Marc, who says: “I have a sleeping disorder, I can’t tell the difference between my waking life and dreams.”
Marc is shown struggling with his days and nights, falling asleep on strangers on the bus, tethering himself to his bed and seeing visions.
Ethan Hawke also appears in the trailer as Arthur Harrow, a mysterious man with acolytes bowing down to him. He tells Marc: “There’s chaos in you, embrace the chaos.”
Moon Knight appears to be much darker than previous Marvel streaming shows and films and introduces a brand new character than has yet to appear in any of its screen properties.
The series also stars Gaspard Ulliel and May Calamawy.
The character was created in 1975 by Doug Moench and Don Perlin.
Moon Knight will release on Disney+ on March 30.
