Australian comedian Kitty Flanagan is suddenly winning new fans overseas – and it’s all thanks to Netflix.
Flanagan’s Logie-winning ABC comedy series Fisk was last week added to Netflix here in Australia and internationally, exposing a whole new audience to the acclaimed show.
The series stars Flanagan as acerbic lawyer Helen Tudor-Fisk, who moves from Sydney to start a new life in Melbourne after her career and marriage fall apart. She starts work in a small suburban law firm specialising in wills, hoping that she won’t have to deal with people so much.
And one week on, it seems it’s already gaining a cult following in places like the US, where the workplace comedy has garnered strong reviews and social media reaction:
Fisk is the best thing to binge watch on Netflix right now. It is very funny & very clever. pic.twitter.com/34rAOI16h8

If you love CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, you must watch FISK on Netflix. Finally, a deeply "unlikable" middle-aged woman lead who is usually just misunderstood by a world that prefers people to be dishonest and stupid. Such a great show. pic.twitter.com/J2fHKY4v9l

Variety reports that Fisk is now available for Netflix viewers around the world, “excluding The Netherlands, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.”
The outlet quotes Flanagan herself as saying she was excited the series was making its debut on the streaming platform, after previously screening on the ABC here in Australia and being viewable on ABC iView.
“Now whenever anyone asks, ‘Hey where can I watch your show?’ It’s simple. No downloading or explaining where to find some app. Just hit the Netflix button and Fisk yourself stupid,” she said.
The streaming move comes after Flanagan won the Most Popular Actress award at last month’s Logies for her starring role in the show.
