“To solve the case, [they] will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice,” reads the show’s synopsis.
Each season of True Detective tells its own tale, therefore the HBO series has always employed an impressive cast each season.
Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson played the leads in the first season in 2014.
Season 2 premiered in 2015 with Taylor Kitsch, Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams starring, and Mahershala Ali and Stephen Dorff took over in Season 3 in 2019.
Next season’s offering has Foster in the role of lead of detective, with comparisons being drawn to her unforgettable role as FBI Agent Clarice Starling the 1991 thriller The Silence of the Lambs.

“[She is] a long way from Clarice,” Foster said in a recent interview with Total Film magazine.
“Clarice is all about the ethics and she’s quiet and reserved and always doing the right thing, and that is not Danvers. I kind of hope Clarice never got this cynical.”
True Detective: Night Country premieres January 15 on BINGE and on Fox Showcase at 8.30pm and available On Demand.
